Last year I started helping out with the Sergeant Clint Ferrin Dental Clinic at the UNLV dental school. It has been one of the most rewarding things that I have been apart of since joining dental school. It was started in the memory of a soldier, Clint Ferrin, who was killed while serving his country. His brother, John, was a dental student at UNLV and started the clinic in his brother's memory. We get together about 10 times a year, or as often as the school permits, to treat veterans who cannot afford dental care. The time we spend with them in one Saturday morning is truly unforgettable. Most of them are pretty open about sharing their experiences of service and it is truly humbling. The clinic was featured in Dentaltown this month. I encourage you to check it out and check out the site for the clinic. Also, if you know of any veterans in need please be sure to pass the website along. On the website they can fill out the application to be seen as a patient.
